FAQ
When is the ideal time to schedule a photoshoot?
To ensure availability and allow for planning, it’s generally best to book your photoshoot early. For maternity sessions, aim for 28-36 weeks of pregnancy, ideally booking during your first trimester. The sweet spot for newborn photos is within the first 2-3 weeks after birth, so inquire during pregnancy. For general baby photos capturing milestones, reach out at least 3-4 weeks in advance. Similarly, for family photoshoots, booking 3-4 weeks ahead is recommended, especially for specific seasons or dates.
Can you recommend some good locations for photos?
Absolutely! There are fantastic photo opportunities all around us. For a cozy and atmospheric indoor setting, consider charming cafes or the personal intimacy of your own home. When it comes to embracing the beauty of the outdoors, nearby gardens, parks, and even charming streets offer wonderful natural backdrops. These are just a few ideas to get us started in finding the perfect place to capture your precious moments. I would like to take photos at home, but my apartment is quite dark. What do you recommend?
It’s understandable to want photos in the comfort of your own home! If your apartment is quite dark, one solution is to consider reaching out to friends or family who might have a space that would work beautifully during certain times of the day. For example, a living room with large windows facing east or west might be perfect in the morning or late afternoon. A beautiful, authentic photoshoot could also take place in a location like a rural cottage at your grandmother’s house. Also, think about your favorite place to spend your free time; if it’s outdoors or in a naturally well-lit indoor space, that could be a wonderful option too.
I’m a bit nervous about the photoshoot. Can you give me some tips on posing naturally?
It’s natural to feel self-conscious, but remember, everyone has insecurities. Let’s try to relax and have fun with the photoshoot. Often, the most beautiful photos are captured in those spontaneous moments when you’re just being yourself. Try focusing on interacting with your loved ones instead of directly at the camera – it often leads to lovely, natural expressions. I’m here to guide you every step of the way and help you feel at ease. I’ll share more tips to help you relax and ensure we get some amazing photos.
Are there any props that we can use for the photoshoot?
While I believe in the power of simplicity for maternity, newborn, or family photography and generally prefer to capture the essence of the moment without the distraction of props, I understand some families might have ideas. My goal is to create timeless images that showcase the beauty of your unique story, the love you share, and I find that a minimalist approach often achieves this best.
What should I prepare for my photoshoot?
Keep it comfy and cute! Comfort is key for everyone to feel relaxed and enjoy the session. Opt for soft pastel colors with simple patterns. Avoid anything too flashy or with lots of writing or pictures. For guys, a plain tee, jeans, or a casual jacket is perfect. Ladies, a floral dress or a cute blouse and jeans are great choices, along with natural-looking hair and makeup. Coordinate with your little ones in matching colors and styles. Think jeans, hats, dresses with cozy sweaters. Don’t forget to pamper those toes, as we often capture barefoot moments. And what should you prepare for your baby? A soft-colored newborn onesie and a nice blanket to photograph the baby on.
How long does a photoshoot take?
Photoshoot duration can typically range from two to four hours or more, depending on several factors. These include the mood and cooperation of children (for family and baby sessions), the number of photos desired, and travel time if multiple locations are involved (common for family and maternity sessions). Newborn sessions, in particular, require flexibility and include breaks for feedings, diaper changes, and cuddles. Therefore, I recommend allocating ample time for your photoshoot and focusing on being relaxed and enjoying the process without feeling rushed.
When will the photos be processed?
You can generally expect your photos to be processed within 3-4 weeks. However, the exact timeframe can depend on the complexity and number of images ordered, as well as my current workload and the time of year. I will notify you by email as soon as your photos are ready for viewing!
Will I also get the unedited photos from the photoshoot?
You will receive the agreed-upon number of professionally edited photos, all carefully crafted in my signature style. Think of unedited photos like an artist’s preliminary sketches – they are part of the process but not the final artwork. Retouching is a crucial part in my work, and it’s what brings the photos to their full potential, which is why you entrusted me with your photography. I ensure every photo I deliver is one I’m proud of.
In what format will I receive the edited photos?
You will receive a download link for the edited photos in JPEG format and high resolution via email. The link will be active for 3 days to ensure secure downloading. Please download the photos to your device within this timeframe, and feel free to inquire about my archiving policy if you need access after the link expires.
Will you refund me if I cancel the photo session?
During the initial planning or consultation, if we realize we’re not the right fit, we can part ways, and I’ll refund your payment within 14 business days. Once all details, including the date, are agreed upon, and you inform me you can’t make the photoshoot, my priority is to find an alternative solution or reschedule. However, if you insist on canceling your booking after confirmation, the payment will be retained as a cancellation fee to cover the committed time and resources. My satisfaction guarantee focuses on the photoshoot experience itself, and while I aim to be flexible with rescheduling, cancellations after confirmation are subject to this policy.
